Ask Amanda: How do I book a live illustrator?

Live Illustration’s Operations Manager Amanda

Over the years we have live illustrated meetings and events of every size and type all around the world. We’ve collected the five most common questions people ask about getting a professional graphic recorder to their event.

1. How do I book a live illustrator?

It’s really straightforward! Drop us a line at via our contact page with your date and location and we’ll come back to you asap with costs and options. If you’re happy with the quote we can then get it booked in or have a call to discuss in more detail. From there we will match you with an illustrator and you’ll have the opportunity to virtually meet them ahead of your event and discuss your ideal result.

2. Do you have different pricing options?

Including additional details such as timings and type of event (i.e strategy session, team away day, workshop) means we can provide you with exact pricing. We can factor in travel both national and international, accommodation and additional scribes for big events.

3. What does a live illustrator draw on?

You have the choice of either a physical surface (typically boards) or digital capture (iPad). It is worth noting if you opt for boards that there does need to be adequate space usually around 3m wide. So if space is limited then an iPad might be a better option.

4. How do I get the drawing?

If you opt for iPad you’ll get your images usually straightaway. Boards take around a week to digitise and you’ll then receive a high resolution print quality digital file.

5. What else do we need to know?

We look at your event schedule with you to see what moments benefit most from hand drawn visuals. It’s always good to have a call - we can discuss arrival times, AV access, where to put boards and positioning of the artist. Just as important as key points, the message of the event and what you want from the drawings.

Every event is unique, and so is each graphic recording made at it!
